Truffaut’s first feature film, and the start of the series of films with Jean-Pierre Leaud, and also kicks off the French New Wave movement. On that note interestingly enough the film is dedicated to Andre Bazin. Also apparently the film’s title is more like “Raising Hell”, the 400 blows just being a literal translation. It also does seem as though it is more then just a passing resemblance to Truffaut’s own childhood, at least with all those movies. Very enjoyable, very new wave, overall a very good film.
