The film-makers were clever to included so many references to Citizen Kane, when of course the story is about Citizen Kane. The movie portrays Wells as, egotistical, art before all, kid genius who is trying to live up to his hype. And Hearst is a selfish, power-mad old man who will stop at nothing but his own end. I’m not good at such summaries of character but the portrayals of both seems accurate from what I’ve read. The problem with both of them thou is neither is large enough to be Wells or Hearst. Well written and made, its no wonder WGBH was involved, I only how that came to be and why?
