Another great Kurosawa. Takes place in a clinic in Japan and the issues presented to a young doctor, Yasumoto, who after being trained to be the doctor to the Shogun is forced into this post at a local clinic for the poor. He initially refuses the job, and tries to weasel his way out. But through the guidance of Red Beard he comes to devote his life to it. Of course it is masterly done, like all Kurosawas’.
