Truffaut's last film, a homage to Alfred Hitchcock. Unfortunately I watched the film at the end of a very long day, and therefore barely stayed conscious for the plot let alone the many nuances of the film. It seems timeless, it was made in 1983 but filmed in black and white. It never really seemed a particular time period, the story was straight out of 40’s noir, with French sex jokes and the happenstance of French new wave. I can’t say it really struck me as Hitchcockian, thou I never considered his films true noir. Good, I’ll have to watch it again when I am more awake.
