An Ingmar Bergman film. A nurse’s personality starts to merge with the mute actress she is in charge of. It was recommended to me as possible the greatest film ever made. I don’t agree with that assessment. It was good, possible provoking for its time, but as a friend said, he seen copies of it too many times from movies to Calvin Klein ads. I also don’t agree with that assessment. I’m somewhere in-between. The transfer I watched on VHS was terrible. White subtitles on high contrast black and white film. At times its was just white on white. I probably missed a good 20% of the words. The picture quality of the tape suffered too. It was a terrible viewing experience for what is probably at the least an innovative film.
