I was surprised this was a Woody Allen film, as I liked it. It left me in the dark as to Emmet Ray being a real musician or not. It felt very fabricated, but still kept enough credibility. I was never a fan of Sean Penn, but he fits the persona of Emmet very well. The artist full of neuroses, fainting whenever near his better Django Reinhardt, the world’s greatest guitarist. I suppose it makes sense that is a Woody Allen film. It did end prematurely. I wanted more of Emmet’s life, at least some explanation to his fading away.
