It felt like the film never went anywhere. A Jewish Theater Director has to hide in the basement of his theater while France is occupied by Nazis. His wife continues to run the theater in his absence and has a relationship with a new lead actor. I watched the film waiting for something. Perhaps it went straight over my head, with me not even noticing.
