It was close to the last third of the film before I finally suspended my disbelief and got into the Life Aquatic. Before that the film seemed a murky mess of Wes Anderson trying to out-quirk himself. I not sure what the difference is between what I was expecting and what was delivered. It seems the style and the quirky characters are masking a lack-luster story and writing. Plus the Anderson look and feel, which could in earlier films carry the weaker elements, is now getting tired. How many more Kentucky Airs or custom Zissou Adidas can one be subject too? The Life Aquatic is a disappointment from an otherwise un-disappointing director.
