Excellent as always, upbeat and lighter, Antoine comes into his own goofy hopping from love to affair. Instead of the hellish existence of the 400 Blows, here he just can’t keep a job and he has a steady girl even if he doesn’t realize it. The absurd comedy throughout Stolen Kisses makes it one of my favorite Truffaut films. Antoine leaves the army, gets a job that night in a hotel. He’s fire within his first week and immediately lands a job with a detective agency. If only jobs were that easy to come by in real life.
