The Hudsucker Proxy is part of the golden age of Coen brother’s films (which may not be over yet.) A period piece set in the indeterminate 30’s and 40’s of 1958. The film seems to depict an earlier time, but the story takes place in 1958. The comedy has a greater emphasis on slapstick, but to no detrimental effect on the dialogue, perhaps a result of Sam Rami co-writing. The art deco New York setting is fantastic, even if the decades are confused. Better then I remembered it, hilarious.
