Three random people’s lives intertwine as the result of a car accident, the story of 21 Grams is not that unique. Its exploration of a nature of a soul and death is also well traveled ground. The acting is excellent, but it’s the structure really makes the film. Its not in chronological order, it’s not reversed, it doesn’t even seem to be cut up thematically. Instead it’s like a half completed puzzle: you can guess what it will look like when it’s done, but you still have to fit the pieces together.
