A Christopher Guest mockumentary, that seems to want to be something else. Unlike Best in Show which was presentation of crazy characters and their dogs, Waiting for Guffman has more of a story and progression. It is in documentary format, but at times feels more like a straight comedy. It this imbalance between total improve and scripted comedy that makes it more fresh then Best in Show, which felt like a tired joke.
