Caterina moves to Rome following her neurotic father’s switch in teaching jobs. She and her father discover the cliques of the big city, while her quiet mother finds new love. The depictions of the cliques are highly politicized, the “popular” girls are fascists, the “grungy” kids are communists. Caterina is just a 12 year between them. Being Italian, its refreshing to not see the same teenage movie conventions followed. It doesn’t even seem the school has lockers. It’s a cute film that respects the world view of a 12 year old and shows it through her eyes.
