I don’t know if I should classify this as a movie or not. Criterion made the disk and when I added it to my queue, I thought it was more a documentary. The format is closer to television with 6 shows, a half hour each, with an opening theme song and closing credits. But it’s not a show, it a strange mix of home video, nature show-esque narration and original music. John Lurie somehow makes this all work. He turns a pretty boring premise, famous friends and John fish, into this hilarious, experimental show/documentary. Plus it shows that notable or not, fishing is pretty boring.
