I need to read some Graham Greene. In the book Confessions of an Economic Hitman, John Perkins meets Graham Greene in a colonial-era hotel in Panama that caters to the European Crowd (I imagine not unlike the Hotel Continental in the Film). That being the bulk of my very limited knowledge of Greene, I wonder how much of the Quiet American is biographical. Certainly the most compelling part is the story, otherwise the other elements of the film are more then competent, but not particularly spectacular.
