The last weeks inside Hitler’s bunker, with the Russians closing in on Berlin, Hitler more detached from reality, while his Generals know too well how much time they have left. Der Untergang broke one of the last German film taboos, with a German actor portraying Hitler. What I found extremely fascinating is the disintegration of protocols as the end nears. The ordered life of serving the Fuhrer starts to resemble the chaos of the streets above. However some orders last beyond the very end.
