Errol Morris’s first major film successfully argued that a man was wrongly convicted for killing a Dallas Police Officer by the corrupt justice system of Dallas County, Texas. First Morris carefully lays out the case against Randall Adams, with a sliver of doubt. Then he skillfully rips apart the evidence, the cover ups and the restructuring of the case to keep Adams in Jail. Even the Supreme Court is unable to get him a re-trial. Where the Supreme Court fails, amazing Morris succeeded, the film being placed in evidence at the retrial which exonerated Adams. I imagine this film as a lot to do with the perceptions of Texas-style justice and its death penalty politics.
