Benjamin Button is a far more sophisticated film then Forest Gump could hope to be. It doesn't bludgeon the viewer with history or homespun, salt-of-the-earth values. It doesn't chronicle perseverance against all odds. To borrow a thought, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button is more like Forest Gump for a new generation. And about an hour too long.
