Captivating, realistic and immensely entertaining. All of the characters from Walter Matthau's Transit Police lieutenant, to the Mayor, to the hostages on the train are cynical, jaded, yet witty people. They also curse like filthy sailors. New York City in the 1970s was a much tougher place.
