In Charlie Kaufman's directorial debut, I missed the director. Not that the acting was bad, nor the mise en scene or the writing (which was great as always). Synecdoche sprawled across it's two hour like the confused messy story it was. Which is to say I liked the confusion, I just wish it was confusing and consistently more compeling or confusing and far shorter.
