I imagine The Terminator had a much larger impact in 1984. And I am biased against it by Terminator 2 and the ensuing 20 years of post-terminator robot films. It's better then I expected it to be, through I kept catching the inconsistent ways the Terminator acted more like a human then a cyborg. I suppose I also have trouble believing skynet could discover time travel, but not drive a race of evolved apes to extinction.
