The Coen Brother's at their best. Full of subtle humor, nuances, figures of speech, and bleak despair. Everything about it is immaculate, from Roger Deakins cinematography to the open cryptic short set in 19th-century Eastern European shtetl. The film is almost too engulfed in the Coen's world, leaving everything open to bewildering analysis. They barely even end the film, instead portending doom then crash cutting to the credits. It is fantastic.
