A visceral, slick romp. It felt more like a superhero movie, then Sherlock Holmes. It has several short comings, the plot is almost non-existent, it presents an excessively gritty, vile and violent London, and it only exists to set up a sequel. However the set pieces, production and chemistry between Jude Law and Robert Downey Jr. more then make up for it.
A side note, I saw the film at a Cinema De Lux with luxury seats and in-theatre dinning. It was a very distracting experience, trying to order and eat in the dark while the film was playing. I would not repeat it.
