Ostensibly about cinephiles, youth and 1968 Paris, the Dreamers struck me as aloof, erratic and inconsequential. Throughout it alludes to, pays homage to, and outright shows clips of great films. Among it's best scenes is a recreation from Band Of Outsiders. However it never lives up to it's heros. The dialogue, acting and plot all fall far short. It seemed like it should have appeal to me, but I'm 20 years younger then it's protagonists and it's audience. It's ultimately a fetishized, nostalgic trip.
