Is it OK to not like La Dolce Vita? Is that faint sound my former self softly crying? I had a hard time staying engaged with gossip columnist Marcello's drifting through the affairs of Rome. It's episodic with Marcello loving, fighting, lusting and making an ass of himself among several women, his father and a collection of hangers on. I don't want to say it was bad as homework, but I never found it stimulating. As a result, I feel like most of the film went over my head. Perhaps I just need to accept that Fellini is not for me.
