Dark, evocative and hewing closely to the novel, The Road is a hard film to not watch in a theater. The light and sound of the house annihilated the details. And most of the film is in the details. It really excels at creating the environment of devastation. The visuals are very potent, more so then the book. It isn't as engrossing, but I never expected it to be. The two are nice companions, both playing to their respective strengths.
