Although it’s conventional and sappy, the film is bristling with sly one-liners and wisecracks. Of course, Jack Lemmon and Walter Matthau can’t be beat in their bickering chemistry and comic timing. Though with only a few lines, Burgess Meredith steals every scene. Zingers are Grumpy Old Men’s strong point and thankfully it delivers.
