A tense, dark Ozark-noir. Against the potential lost of the family homestead, 17-year-old Ree challenges her broad family clan to find the truth of her Father's disappearance. Naturalistically shot and acted, it depicts a world intentionally at a distance from mainstream society and capitalism. It's a powerful film, extremely well paced with a strong emphasis on life and it's details. Left with few options Ree faces the tough, weary men and women of the Dolly clan, with their obscure motives and fierce devotion to collective survival. They find she is strong enough to outlast them all.
