A portrayal of Charles Bukowski's alter-ego, I'm not familiar with his work, but the film seems to get the drunk, low-life right. And Matt Dillion is pretty convincing as a drunk, low-life. That's about the entirety of the movie, not much comedy, not much drama. Drunk, low-life.
