The cinematography in the opening half looks amazing. Light dappled through the trees, wide angles, sweeping camera movements, very well edited together. It was the beautiful film I want to see again, a gorgeous model of how to capture a childhood. The second half was less so. It’s darker, more self-righteous to the film’s detriment.
