Sappy and sweet. Bill Nighy is the more compelling character and story. He has knowing glances of his nonlinear life. He has his last moment with his son, then goes downstairs for dinner with his son. He must live for hundreds of years with every part of his life (or at least a broad swath of decades) playing at once. Nighy story cuts out the meet-cute and adds in questions this film can't answer.
